Argentinia 1985

On 3 June 2024 (18:00), the FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg and the International Academy of Nuremberg Principles will be screening “Argentina, 1985.” The film will be shown in its original language (Spanish) with German subtitles.

What is it about?

During the dictatorship in Argentina from 1976 to 1983, the military abducted, tortured, and murdered tens of thousands of people. The internationally acclaimed film revolves around the first trial held in 1985 against the leadership of the military junta. It addresses the resistance and incomprehension initially faced by efforts for justice, but also the strategies that succeeded in addressing serious human rights violations.

Subsequent discussion

Following the movie screening, a roundtable discussion (in German) will be held involving Laura Clérico (University of Buenos Aires & FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg), Esteban Cuya (Nürnberger Menschenrechtszentrum) and Wolfgang Kaleck (European Center for Civil and Human Rights). The discussion will be hosted by Pablo Gavira (International Academy of Nuremberg Principles) and Daniel Stahl (Conflicts.Meanings.Transitions/FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg).
