Under the theme “Liberal Democracy in Crisis: Why Liberal Democracy is the Prerequisite for a Strong Europe”, the Young Security Conference (YSC) brings together emerging scholars and young professionals to debate the future of European security, develop innovative policy ideas, and engage with international experts and decision-makers.

From December 2026 to February 2027, up to eight selected fellows will participate in a programme featuring the Bavarian Winter School on Trade and Security, collaborative Policy Labs, expert discussions, and the opportunity to organise a public side event in the context of the Munich Security Conference 2027.

The programme combines in-person sessions in Munich in December and February with an online working phase in January.

What’s in it for you?

  • Free participation in the Winter School
  • Travel and accommodation subsidies
  • Direct exchange with experts and policymakers
  • International networking and hands-on policy experience

Who can apply? Emerging researchers and young professionals under 35 with a background in international relations, security studies, political science, economics, or law.
